DON'T DWELL ON WHERE YOU CAN'T GO AND TURN YOUR ATTENTION TO WHERE YOU WILL GO

It sucks to not be able to travel. For a while, it would sadden me to be reminded of places I couldn't visit because of this pandemic. I'm sure I'm not the only one, and I know there are definitely more important things in the world right now than not being able to travel, but it still sucks.

For anyone else going through travel withdrawal right now, what helped me snap out of this funk was to focus my energy on planning out what I will be able to do when life gets back to being normal-ish, instead of what I can't do now. I had to remind myself that the excitement I get from planning a trip, is often just as awesome as actually making the trip, and I've been much happier since. You should tap into that and let the anticipation of all your upcoming adventures keep you going until you finally step on that plane.

If you need a nudge in the right direction, take a look at the new 2020 Lonely Planet Ultimate Travel List to help reignite your passion for traveling and start dreaming again.
