MY TWO FAVORITE COFFEE SPOTS IN LONDON

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I go to Starbucks a lot and that I love coffee. Now I’m sure you’ve heard varied reviews about Starbucks and I’m the first to admit they don’t have the best coffee I’ve ever had, but they do have a very consistent, high-quality coffee that I find tasty. When I’m traveling and just need coffee, seeing a Starbucks is like an oasis in the desert. I know I don’t have to worry about being disappointed because I’m gonna get the same mug of sunshine whether I’m in London or in Hong Kong.

When possible, I do like to frequent independent coffee shops, and here are two of my favorites from when I was living in London, England. These two are also a couple of the rare places in London, other than Starbucks, where you can get filtered coffee! I love a good espresso, but black filtered coffee is what gives me the strength to do air punches in the morning.

The Nordic Bakery located in Soho serves some of the best cinnamon buns you will ever have and coffee, coffee, coffee! Enter and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Sweden for a fika. It’s a nice lunch spot too as they serve tasty food in addition to their fantastic coffee. You might even earn some hipster points cause it’s very low-key and a hidden gem.

Just a few blocks away in Covent Garden is Monmouth Coffee which I feel is the best coffee shop in all of the U.K. Their filtered coffee is lovingly and freshly brewed via pour over with each order from some of the finest coffee on Earth. This location has unique seating options (they have a few locations in London), so plan to enjoy a coffee there post-pandemic to enjoy the decor. Ignore the fact that it’s located in a touristy area because the coffee you get will not be a cup of bitter hot water. This coffee will change your life, and maybe even give you night vision.

What do you think of my choices? What would you add to my list? What’s your favorite caffeinated drink?
